Step 1: How Do I Join?

So you are thinking about joining our team? Cool. The easiest way is to reach out to one of our team members and ask if you can join. If they like you and they think you are a good fit they’ll want you on the team.

Remember, we are good people (mostly) and not elitist. We have a good thing going here and have some of the nicest teammates around. So we have a “no jerk” rule and we utilize the “camping test”.

The “camping test” is no Myers-Briggs psychological test, but it work for us. Would we want you to join us on a camping trip? Not a week long ordeal, but an overnight or 2 kind of deal. Pretty simple.

If you don’t know anyone on the team then contact John, our membership chairman:

John Barnett 210.870.9873 or johnbarnett@yahoo.com

We’re pretty accessible and we’ll arrange a time to meet to get to know each other. Pretty easy, huh?

Step 2: What Do I Do Now?

So you have spoken to one of our team members and have agreed to join the team? Fantastic! So you want to make it official? Here is what you do:

1. First you understand that we are good people (mostly) and not elitist, right? We’re just dedicated athletes who train with a purpose, race actively, and have a common bond of pursuing a healthy lifestyle and having fun. Still with us?

2. Agree to race at least 5 races per season? Most of us will do far more than this.

3. Agree to wear our team clothing while training and racing? Yes, that means that you will be giving up your existing cycling/tri wardrobe in favor of a pretty mean looking kit. And a “kit” means a matching team jersey and shorts/bibs.

4. Agree to patronize our wonderful sponsors as best you can?

5. Agree to our Release Form & Waiver of Liability?

6. Still with us? Great. Now you’ll need to enter our ‘Members Only‘ section to add yourself to our roster and access our team store.  You’ll need a password to do this.  Call or email John if you don’t already have this: John Barnett 210.870.9873 or johnbarnett@yahoo.com. Remember that you’ll need to order a “kit” which includes a jersey and shorts/bibs.

7. If you are a road cyclist or mountain biker you’ll need to buy/renew your USAC or NORBA license and indicate your new team affiliation: Peak Fitness Racing

8. Check out our forum to keep abreast of any new news, group training opportunities, etc: http://peakfitnessracing.org/forum Forum tip: if you register and login the Forum you will see if there are any new messages once you check back. Otherwise you have to sift through them all to figure out what’s new.

Now you’re officially on the team!
